K-14 Academic Prep Specialist
Christian Aranda is an Academic Prep Specialist with the University of California, San Diego Early Academic Outreach Program. He is a first-generation college graduate. Christian was born in Brawley, California, located in the Imperial Valley. However, he has lived most of his life in the city of El Centro. Christian attended and graduated from high school in 2011 at Central Union High School. After graduating from high school, Christian enrolled in the local community college, Imperial Valley College. While attending IVC he pursued an Associate Degree in Social Science with the goal of one day becoming a high school history teacher. He would graduate from IVC in Spring 2014 and transfer to San Diego State University Imperial Valley, located in Calexico, California. He would graduate from SDSU with a Bachelor's degree in Social Science-Single Subject Teaching in Spring 2017. It is at SDSU that Christian would discover his passion for higher education. Specifically, college outreach by mentoring students to achieve their higher education goals. As a first-generation college graduate, Christian understood the hardships many first-generation students face when pursuing a college education. Eventually, his passion for college outreach would lead him to a change of career, he would go on to pursue a career as a college advisor. A role Christian is passionately fulfilling as an Academic Prep Specialist with the Early Academic Outreach Program. Christian plans to continue his education and make an impact in the education of the students in the Imperial Valley. Never forgetting the positive impact pursuing a college education has had in his life.
